Foundation

Bharti Foundation began their community interventions about 20 years ago in the year 2000. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises the promoter of the flagship telecom brand AIRTEL.

The Foundation is working to improve the accessibility and quality of education across rural India, with a special focus on the girl child. The Foundation implements and supports programs in primary, secondary and higher education as well as nationwide Sanitation Programs.

I have been associated with the Bharti Foundation as a Member of the Governing Council for the past over 12 years and have been actively participating in their various programs and initiatives. I have visited many of the schools in rural India and interacted with the parents, students and the teachers in those schools and the villages. The quality of the Foundation’s professional team is superb and their commitment to the causes are praiseworthy.

The Foundation through its flagship programs has so far been able to work with 2,500 schools and have impacted the lives of

  • 400,000 students

  • 17,000 Teachers

  • 4,000 Villages

  • 2,000,000 Community Members.

The Satya Bharti Quality Support Program was initiated in 2013 in collaboration with various state governments with the objective of supporting government schools to become happy, holistic institutions of learning. It now covers 804 schools in 14 states of India with 9808 teachers and 2,34,674 students (of which 50% are girls)

The Satya Bharti Abhiyan initiative was started in 2014 to improve sanitation conditions by providing toilets to households and institutions and foster behavioural change among community members. This program has built over 25,000 toilets with 1,86,461 beneficiaries.
